Defined: Certified Kitchen Designer (C.K.D) is
someone who specializes in the design, planning and execution of residential kitchen and bathrooms, and prove advanced knowledge
of technical and personal communications skills required to succeed as a design specialist.
Requirements: Certified Kitchen Design, (C.K.D) must have a minimum
of seven (7) years of experience. A minimum of three (3) years must be specifically form full-time residential kitchen/bath
design experience, including design execution or project management. The remaining four (4) years can consist of full-time
kitchen/bath design, related experience, or formal education.
To archive a Certified Kitchen Design (C.K.D) degree you must take a three (3) hour practical knowledge exam on safety,
laws and design; then a six (6) hour practical drafting; during this part of the exam you will be drafting to scale were you
will be required to lay out all electrical, ventilation and plumbing needed on a working floor plan while keeping within the
specification from the NKBA.
